Introduction
Well-Nest is a thoughtfully designed app created to ease the mental load of parenting by bringing schedules, task management, and wellness tracking into one clear, easy-to-use platform.
Discover
The Discover phase began with getting to know my client through a one-on-one interview. This initial research helped uncover key insights into her daily routines, challenges, and goals as a busy parent. By listening to her experiences, we identified the core problems she faces and laid the foundation for designing a solution that truly supports her lifestyle.
Through the interview with Massi, several key themes emerged that highlighted her needs and challenges as a busy parent:
Interview
Constantly Changing Schedules
Massi often has to deal with last-minute changes, making it hard to stay on top of everyone’s plans.
Desire for Simplicity
Massi values tools that are easy to use and save time, rather than adding to her workload.
Mental Load
She feels overwhelmed trying to remember and manage everything without a centralized system.
Wellness is Overlooked
While she wants to focus on her own mental well-being, it often gets pushed aside due to daily responsibilities.
Task Clarity
There’s often confusion around who is responsible for what, which leads to frustration and missed tasks.
Needs a Centralized Hub
Massi expressed frustration with jumping between different apps and tools to manage her family’s life.
Define
In the Define phase, I analyzed the insights gathered from my interview with Massi to clearly identify the core problems she faces. This step helped translate her experiences into specific user needs, guiding the direction of the app.
Busy parents like Massi need a simple, centralized tool to manage shifting schedules, shared tasks, and personal wellness without feeling overwhelmed.
Problem Statement
Persona
How might we create a simple, all-in-one tool that helps busy parents manage schedules, delegate tasks, and prioritize their well-being?
How Might We
Ideate
During the Ideate phase, I focused on brainstorming features that would directly address the challenges identified in the Discover and Define phases. Based on Massi’s needs, I explored ideas that would simplify task management, improve communication, and support mental wellness.
To guide feature development, I used the Jobs to Be Done framework to understand what Massi truly needed to accomplish in her daily life. Rather than focusing solely on app functionality, this approach helped me identify her underlying goals

User feedback showed that the app felt intuitive, calming, and helpful in managing both responsibilities and self-care. By focusing on real user needs and thoughtful design, WellNest delivers a meaningful tool that helps families stay connected, organized, and supported.
Lessons Learned
I learned how important it is to design with empathy and simplicity, especially for users who are already overwhelmed. Balancing functionality with ease of use was key, and it reminded me that good design doesn’t just look nice—it actively supports the people using it.
